Ford, General Motors and Chrysler each reported fewer overall truck sales for 2008. Dodge's sales actually declined to the point that Toyota passed it for the third spot in overall truck sales, the first time in history that a foreign automaker has cracked the top three. General Motors' 2008 total truck sales fell 24 percent compared to 2007. Chevrolet's brand of full-size trucks fell 24.8 percent while GMC full-size truck sales fell 19 percent. Ford's F-Series pickup sales dropped 25 percent from 2007, while Dodge full-size pickup sales fell 31 percent. There were 13,240,000 new trucks sold in 2008 compared to 16,153,952 trucks sold in 2007, or an 18 percent decline of overall full-size truck sales. In a totally unrelated story, Chevrolet will make your mortgage payment for a year if you buy one of its new pickups. Yes, we're kidding . kind of.
