The power of the aftermarket customization finally appears to have caught the attention of the big manufacturers. This year at the Detroit auto show, the North American International Auto Show, Chevy rolled out new appearance packages for their popular Silverado line of trucks.
For the 2016 model, Chevrolet is offering a “Custom Sport” trim. This includes adding bumpers, a chrome accented grille, and matching paint. 20-inch chrome wheels, door handles, mirror caps, and body-side molding are also finished in chrome. The package is set to cost between two and three thousand dollars and will be available for the LT and the LTZ versions. Sadly, while Chevy seems to understand that aftermarket customization is a growing industry, the new “Custom Sport” trim package does not come with any performance upgrades.
