In the June issue we dove into our 2013 Dodge Mega Cab Long Horn edition project with a step-by-step install on adding a Ranch Hand front bumper. Our goal with this build is to show the average guy how to build a hard-working Ranch Hand truck. The owner uses his Cummins every day for work, plus he builds custom classic cars and tows his horses with it weekly. So for added protection and style, we contacted our good friends at Ranch Hand to help get this project started right. In the second part of the install, we’ll focus on adding a rear bumper as well as side steps.
On a new Dodge Ram, the rear bumper is very easy to remove and replace. It only requires eight bolts in total.
With the bumper removed, you next attach the supplied Ranch Hand brackets that are needed for the swap.
The Ranch Hand kit includes two extra backup lights, which work great at night.
And just like that, the rear bumper install is complete. The new bumper went on as easily as the old one came off, proving there’s not much to it. Now the rear bumper matches perfectly with the front bumper that was installed earlier.
Moving on to the side steps from Ranch Hand, the first step is to remove the stock factory ones.
As with the other two installs, Ranch Hand once again provides all the brackets and bolts to get the job done.
The install requires just six nuts and bolts per side and no holes need to be drilled. It truly is a great do-it-yourself project that doesn’t take a lot of mechanical experience to complete.
Now our Ranch Hand build is finished up and ready to handle whatever comes our way.
