The 2015 Texas Truck Rodeo was held last week, and gave its top honors to the 2016 Nissan Titan XD, a truck that you may have noticed isn't actually available for purchase yet. Featuring more than 100 representatives from the major automotive companies as well as over 50 TAWA journalists, the Texas Truck Rodeo is one of the most prestigious autmotive hsows in the country, and honors from the show are highly sought after. The two-day show puts all sorts of vehicles through their paces (read: lots of tests) before coming up with winners in each category.
The Titan XD, powered by a 5.0-liter Cummins turbo diesel, also walked away with three other prizes: Luxury Pickup Truck of Texas, Off-Road Pickup Truck of Texas and Best Powertrain. With accolades like these, we can't wait to get our hands on one.
“Of the hundreds of thousands of miles driven during the development of the all-new 2016 TITAN XD, the miles driven by the truck experts of the Texas Auto Writers Association were the most critical miles driven to date as we prepare to launch our new truck,” says Fred Diaz, senior vice president, Sales & Marketing and Operations, U.S.A., Nissan North America, Inc. “This prestigious Truck of Texas award gives us tremendous validation heading into the TITAN XD launch in December. We are humbly honored to accept this award.”
The Titan XD should be available sometime in December, at which point we might have a serious contender for a fourth spot in the diesel power structure. Guess we'll have to wait and see!
