As you get ready for winter, you may be considering a bypass oil filter for your diesel. Bypass oil filtration features a secondary filter, which is designed to eliminate virtually all contaminants from your engine oil. These filters have high capacities and eliminate much smaller particles than full-flow filters. This is called "partial flow" where they draw approximately 10 percent of the oil pump's capacity at any given time. The whole process is called bypass filtration, because the oil flows from the filter back to the sump, fully bypassing the engine. While bypass filters reduce long-term engine wear, increase oil flow, and extend oil drain intervals, the high efficiency also equates to more restriction, so they must be used in conjunction with full-flow filters.
AMSOIL's bypass filtration systems for the Power Stroke, Duramax, and Cummins engines offer amazing protection at an affordable price (ranging from $250 to $700+ with the average landing somewhere around $450). Most single- and dual-remote systems come at an MSRP below the market average. The systems are built to withstand the most severe operating conditions, and they're easy to install and maintain. Do-it-yourself instructions are provided with them. For more information, call 715-399-8324 or click here.
