Aaron bought this old Ford back in December of 2013, and he made a cool Fummins build out of it! “It’s been my project truck ever since, although I didn’t change much on it in the last couple years,” he says. “I bought it with a Cummins swap in mind and didn’t wait long to get started. My brother helped me get it repainted and I did all the upgrades on the truck in my dad’s shop to put the 12-valve P7100-pumped engine in.”
The blue paint is a refurbished stock Ford color from the 1970s.
“Everything on the outside is basically original,” Aaron adds, “but the inside is definitely not.”
The only original drive train components are the front axle and transfer case. The transmission is a Dodge NV4500 with the Ford 205 transfer case; behind them is a GEAR VENDORS kit that adds double overdrive gears. The rear axle is upgraded from the original to a Dana 80. The truck sits on 16-inch ION alloy wheels wrapped in BFGoodrich A/T tires.
The interior has been refurbished with most of it painted blue to match; the headliner is built from blue crushed velvet, and Aaron also built a pillar gauge pod with ISSPRO gauges.
“I did just a few mods to the engine with 75-percent-over injectors being the main thing,” he says. “The injector pump is tweaked some so it pulls well.”
He also put airbags on all four corners with an onboard air compressor and tank. He built traction bars and bumpers for both the front and back and had them all powder coated; with that, he built his own LED taillights and side marker lights. The truck lives quite a well-traveled lifestyle with all of these upgrades as well.
“I dated my sweetheart (now my wife) in this truck and we’ve had it in a few of the surrounding states including Texas, New Mexico and Colorado,” Aaron says.
