(Marysville, WA) September 3, 2013 - Start your engines! The National Hot Rod Diesel Association (NHRDA) is holding its 4th Annual World Finals at the Texas Motorplex in Ennis, TX. As their final stop on their 2013 Diesel Drag Race & Sled Pulling Series, the NHRDA World Finals promises jam-packed entertainment including a golf tournament, country concert and the world's finest diesel truck drag racing and sled pulling action.
Deemed `The Super Bowl of the Diesel World,' the NHRDA attracts top competitors from all over North America, including current National Pro Stock record holder Wade Moody in his 7second 180mph Chevy Duramax. Another fan favorite Jarid Jones will be reaching for his first World Title in Top Diesel as he thunders down the quarter mile at over 20mph in his diesel powered dragster. The World Finals will be awarding over $30,000 in prize money throughout race weekend.
Over 7500 people attended last year's World Finals, and NHRDA President Randy Cole expects even more this year. New additions for 2013 lineup include Sled-Pulling featuring the Super Stock class where the competitors make over 3000hp while pulling a 30,000lb sled down the 300-foot dirt track.
"A lot of planning has gone into this year's events," Cole said. "Spectators can expect to be wowed by the racing, and entertained by our first country concert featuring local artist Sonny Burgess. We aim make our World Finals a fun weekend for the entire family."
The 2013 NHRDA World Finals is also teaming up with the Make A Wish Foundation. The organization's impressive roster of sponsors have donated over $9,000 in prizes to be raffled off throughout race weekend, with all proceeds going directly to Make A Wish.
The celebration will begin with a BBQ Kick-Off party on Thursday, Sept. 26 at Pit Stop BBQ in Waxahachie, TX. Spectators are invited to mingle with the NHRDA racers and staff while enjoying some Texas BBQ.
NHRDA will also be hosting a golf tournament at the Old Brickyard Golf Course in Ferris, TX on Thursday Sept. 26. Sponsored by Monster Energy and Titleist, golfers can play 18 holes with friends or as a single with complimentary food and drink. Special events include the `Longest Drive Contest' and `Closest to the Hole.'
The drag racing action begins on Friday, Sept. 27 with two rounds of qualifying races for each NHRDA Drag Racing Class. One round of qualifying races for each NHRDA Drag Racing Class and eliminations begin on Saturday, Sept 28, followed by the NHRDA Sled Pulling race featuring Super Stock, 3.0 Diesel, and 2.6 Diesel.
The Show n Shines and Dyno Competition round up Saturday's racing schedule and spectators can expect to be entertained with a free country concert with admission featuring Sonny Burgess to conclude the evening.
A race weekend wouldn't be complete without an awards ceremony, and the 2013 NHRDA Awards Banquet will wrap up the weekend on Sunday. Sept. 29 at the Texas Motorplex Champions Club. The NHRDA will crown the 2013 World Champions, 2013 MHRP Diesel Drag Racing Series National Champions, and the 2013 NHRDA Diesel Sled Pulling Series National Champions.
