Trailer Hitch
Having a quality trailer hitch is essential if you plan on doing a lot of towing. Also, it will give those stopped behind you something to stare at.
There are several elements to consider when purchasing a trailer hitch for a truck. Make sure it is made out of a material that is strong, but also treated not to rust. If your truck is lifted, consider a height-adjustable hitch that allows you to lower the ball to match the height of the trailer. Also, if you tow several different types of trailers, consider a hitch with a double ball. These types of hitches can easily switch between a 2-inch and a 2 and 5/16-inch ball when needed.
One brand of trailer hitches that we like is Diversi-Tech. We liked them so much in fact that we also decided to put their DT-ALBM6800 hitch on our 2002 Ford F-250 project truck, Big Blue. The hitch is made from the highest quality aircraft-grade billet aluminum and stainless steel components and features an 8-inch drop and a double ball.
One of the greatest features, though, is that both the hitch and the adjustable ball have a lock system that keeps it secure. Those locks are double-sealed so it can be left on the truck year-round.
