GM Sales Climb On 2011 HD Pickups
According to a recent report from GM, Chevrolet's total sales are up 19 percent (on October 1) from the same time the previous year. GM attributes most of the growth to the 2011 Silverado HD. The new truck hit dealerships this summer with a new frame and suspension, and the newest version of the V8 Duramax turbo diesel engine, rated at 397 horsepower and 765 ft-lbs of torque. GM sold 66 percent more Silverado HD trucks this September compared to last September. Year to year sales of the Silverado HD are up 17 percent.
Ram Heavy Duty Sales Up
GMC Sierra sales for September rose 53 percent, and are up 17 percent year to year.
Chrysler reported that Ram Truck sold 17,854 units in September, showing a 22 percent increase over September 2009. Ram Heavy Duty pickup sales in September were up 42 percent compared to the same month in 2009.
Ford F-Series Sales Increase
Ford's total F-series sales for September this year were up 40 percent over the same month last year.
