RAM 1500 EcoDiesels have been impossible to get ahold of since late last year when Fiat-Chrysler Automobiles was accused of installing emissions-cheating devices on them by the EPA. FCA was forced to stop production of the trucks because of the ensuing lawsuits and investigations, and only just received permission to start selling them again in July. Vehicles didn’t start shipping, however, until late September, which is why we’re only now hearing about it. According to Cars.com, there are a paltry 2,000 or so 2017 EcoDiesels making their way to dealers, out of a pool of about 53,000 gas-equipped 1500s. (Nation-wide inventory can be found here.) Apparently the EPA still hasn’t certified the 2018 models, so if you’re part of the small portion of the diesel-loving populace that wants one of these, you better get on that, because that small stock won’t last long and who knows when next year’s models will show up.
