To go snowmobiling, you need more than just your sled. There is a lot of equipment necessary to participate in this amazing sport, including a sled deck or trailer, snowmobile, riding gear, etc. The part that most people forget to mention is that when you’re headed where few people dare to go, it’s essential to have a truck that is purpose-built for those who live to explore. This, for Boondock Nation, is probably the most important part. Throughout the course of winter, December – May, we put tens of thousands of miles on our truck, hauling our snowmobiles around North America. When traveling in freezing temperatures and poor driving conditions, it’s critical to have a truck capable of conquering any terrain, and the GMC Sierra HD Denali with the powerful 3.0L Duramax Turbo diesel engine lived up to the hype.
Last season, we had a GMC Sierra HD Denali as our road warrior and sled hauler. The way it towed our fully-loaded 34-foot Trails West trailer was nothing short of amazing. We were seriously impressed with the new 10-speed Allison Transmission and overall power delivery. Not only did it do a great job hauling our sleds around, but it was a very comfortable ride to say the least. We endured multiple trips over 20 hours in length, so having all the refined comforts and advanced technology the Denali offers made the long hauls much more enjoyable.
With last winter in the rearview, we’ve set our sights on a new GMC diesel truck for the upcoming season. GMC has a ton of different options when it comes to pickups, so finding one tailored to our specific needs was no problem. The GMC Sierra HD AT4 is built to power our trailer off-road, and with its adventurous exterior and athletic interior, it seems like a perfect fit. These AT4 HD’s are such sharp-looking trucks. They have some bold, AT4-exclusive exterior finishes that are unique and really set them apart such as the premium black chrome grille, accents, and wheels, along with the modern red Recovery Hooks that really catch the eye. That, combined with the innovative tech and safety features, are what make these vehicles stand out above the rest. With all the trailering that we do, having the capability of the industry-first transparent trailer view, the class-leading 15 available camera views, and the power-extending and folding mirrors means that we can easily keep tabs on our truck and trailer, optimizing all views. Also having the off-road features like Hill Descent Control, Off Road Suspension, All-Terrain tires, and Skid Plates makes this thing the total package for our year-round adventures.
The new Sierra HD AT4, however, isn’t the only AT4 option available. GMC offers an entire family of vehicles available with the AT4 package, including the Sierra 1500, Canyon, Acadia, and Yukon, with the First Ever Terrain AT4 set to join the lineup later this fall. As a matter of fact, the new Yukon AT4 was just named Four Wheeler’s 2021 SUV of the Year! This family of vehicles really does it all and proves to be off-road capable without compromise. We are so excited to get ours and start putting it to the test.
