Edge Products hosted its annual Weekend On The Edge event this past September and man do they know how to put on a good show.
With diesel-only bracket racing at Rocky Mountain Raceway in Salt Lake City, UT, and a dyno competition at its main facilities in Ogden, UT, it was definitely another event we're glad we didn't miss.
With more than 75 trucks competing in three different classes at the strip Friday night, the bracket racing couldn't have been better. Nothing better than good old diesel shoot-out grudge matches that go on long into the night. When it was all said and done, Karl Martin in his 1999 Ford Power Stroke took home first place in the mod class with a 17.94 dial time. Second place went to Mike Campbell and his 2004 Dodge Cummins. Open class winners were Cliff Kano in first place in a 2005 Dodge Cummins and a 15.50 dial, with Verlon Southwick taking home the second spot in a 2005 Chevrolet Duramax. The big boys Wide Open class was won by Kyle Dudley in a 2001 Ford Power Stroke on a 14.32 dial, edging out Zach Fuller in his 2005 Chevrolet Duramax.
Saturday morning's festivities started off at Edge's own facility where the dyno competition would be held. Even with two separate dynos running, the line of trucks seemed to get even longer as the day went on. After each truck flexed its muscle, Edge awarded Dave Sanders in a 2007 Chevrolet Duramax the high horsepower trophy. Sanders' LBZ laid down a very impressive 971 horsepower and 1463 lb-ft of torque. First place in the Mod class went to Wade Owen in an '06 Dodge Cummins that put down a solid 431/767. Open class winner was Mike Clunas in a '99 24V Cummins powered Dodge with a 542/1010 fuel only run-not bad for an old VP pump.
Congrats to the winners and all the other participants. You all helped Edge put on a great event. Can't wait for next year's.
