Our Mile Marker project is rolling along nicely. And with a freshly-built transmission from Adrenaline Performance, it's rolling along better than ever before. What began as a bone-stock 2006 Chevy Duramax LBZ bought last Fall with 120,000 miles on it, is quickly on its way to super sleeper street truck.
In the December 2010 issue of Diesel Tech, we started off with an AFE 4-inch exhaust system and AFE Stage 2 intake. We also added an Edge Products Insight CTS monitor and backup camera and had Powerlabs Diesel tune the truck a little with an EFI Live tune.
Then in the April 2011 issue, we turned our attention to the exterior of the Chevy. We installed a set of Mamba Type M2 wheels, a front bumper from Throttle Down Kustoms, a comfy Bed Rug and a Z Series truck cap from A.R.E. As promised at the end of that article, it's time to get the focus back on performance. Before we bought this truck, we narrowed down our search criteria by having a few demands. One being that while we wanted a Duramax project, it had to be new enough to have the LCT-1000 Allison. The six-speed with manual shift is a big improvement over the previous versions. So when we came across a clean 2006 Duramax, it was an easy choice.
Before we add a compound turbo system from Adrenaline Performance with a Borg Warner Turbo Systems S400 with an 80mm compressor wheel, we wanted to get the power train built to handle the added power. For that, we dropped the truck off at Adrenaline Performance to get the most out of Cam Hulse's expertise.
